NASHUA, N.H. — Assumption right-hander Cole Chudoba hurled six innings of three-hit shutout ball Thursday night as the Worcester Bravehearts topped the Nashua Silver Knights, 3-1, at Holman Stadium.The win proved pivotal for the Bravehearts, who improved to 21-12 for a 1½-game lead over the Silver Knights (20-14) in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. The tight-pitching matchup could be a preview of the possible FCBL Championship Series later this month.Worcester hosts the North Shore Navigators at 6 p.m. Friday at Doyle Field in Leominster.Chudoba (3-2), who was coming off a rough outing (5 innings, 7 runs, 10 hits on Aug. 7 vs. Westfield), struck out six, and Carson Hauben also fanned six in his two scoreless innings. Brad Marchetti pitched the ninth for his second save of the season.The Bravehearts finally got through on Silver Knights starter Patrick Harrington in the sixth inning, when Tyler Patane delivered a two-run single to give Worcester the 2-0 lead. Patane now has 13 RBIs for the season.Matt Shaw hit his second home run of the season with two out in the seventh for a 3-0 lead. Ben McNeill had two of the Bravehearts’ seven hits.
